Supplies for quake victims stuck in Manado

Supplies sent by the North Sulawesi administration for earthquake victims in Talaud Islands are currently stuck at Sam Ratulangi Airport in the province capital Manado waiting to be transported by military airplane, a provincial officer said Saturday, Antara has reported.

Head of the province's social affairs agency Recky Tumanduk said they were still waiting Air Force airplanes from Jakarta to deliver the supplies, which includes food, clothings, and tents, expected to arrive on Saturday.

The province refused to deliver the help using sea transportation due to bad water on the islands waters.

Dozens of people injured and hundreds of houses damaged when a 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit the islands on Thursday. Local administration reported that the quake had caused at least Rp 100 billion (US$8.5 million) in damages
